Day 35: Nov 4

It is Thursday day and day 5 in Death Valley and I have still not stopped being in awe and we still are taking trips to fill my sites with wonder.
We headed up the roadway past all the beautiful mountains that I finally have stopped taking pictures of…   well almost.  They are so ever changing it is hard not to take a picture.

We climbed and climbed and wound around the mountains until my ears were again popping like popcorn.

As we took this last corner I had no idea what to expect but once we parked the car this trip it was another OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This  place is called Dante’s View.

Here is Death Valley from as close to bird’s eye view as I can get. I took many pictures from this vantage point but this one is clearest.  It was hazy up here.

Now remember the picture of me from the Badwater Basin where I was standing 282’ below sea level?

The center path looking area is right where I was standing.  I had no idea the salt flats has such an expanse to them until I saw them from above.  The black curved line is the road.

Behind me on the far far right is approximately where we are camping.   And the sand dunes are the white furthest in the back ground.  I am about 5,475’ above sea level at this point.  My brother told me I look too stern in these pictures so from now on I will have to smile more. But its hard to smile when the sun is in my eyes.
After we came flying back down to normal heights we took another tour through 20 Mule Team Canyon. A lot like Mustard Canyon this was a narrow winding road through the mountains.  I laughed thru this one it was like roller coaster ride up and down and around so fast.
These rocks were not as yellow as Mustard Canyon but more gold like and they also have to look of puffs.  Almost fake looking like you would see in a space movie set or some planet.
I have one more picture of a mountain that I have driven by a couple times and to me it looks like a big dish of vanilla ice cream with chocolate on top. In fact most of the mountains around this valley could be described as some sort of ice cream.

Sorry the brightness is off here it was hazy and I was in a little car with windshield glare.
After this venture I tried on my dress for the costume thing next Thursday and discovered I need to do a little alteration.   And then I went and spent an very relaxing hour or so in the beautiful swimming pool that is all naturally filled from a warm spring up in the mountains.  It was only 96 here.
Thank you all for reading my blogs and I hope you aren’t bored with Death Valley yet because my tour here is not even half over yet.  And I for one am so far from being tired of this place I love it here.
Until tomorrow,
Marie
