It’s Wednesday and I woke up not feeling 100% but my hostess Ms Shirley made me a nice breakfast of poached eggs on wet toast. A cure all remedy of my mothers. And I guess it worked because I survived the trip we went on today.
We left at about 9:00am for a 60 some odd miles one way up to Wildrose Canyon.
The road started out straight but not flat we had many dips and eventually turns. Not good for my very tender stomach this morning.
This is the beginning of a long steep winding road bringing us from sea level up to 5000’ and back down and up again to about 8000’. The next pictures are from the car and we are as close to the mountains as it looks.
I love the look of the next mountains. They look soft and almost like felt or velvet. I’m sure they are just hard rock with plant life
After this hour or so trip we finally reached out destination.
These are Charcoal Kilns the burned the pinyon trees in them and made charcoal.
A pinyon tree is a scrub pine that grows up at this elevation.
After a few pictures we headed back down the mountain.
As the sun moves around this giant valley we are in the pictures I took yesterday would be an entirely different scene today. The colors change virtually by the minute. You can see them change before your very eyes.
And as this wonder amazes me so does the contrast in the types of mountains and rocks surrounding us.
After the climb back up over Wild Rose Canyon my ears were almost bleeding from the pain of such a high fast climb up and down. As I sit here now I can still feel some pain in my left ear.
But this pain didn’t stop me from having my brother stop so I could take a few more pictures of some very interesting rock formations.
I spotted this rock as we went up the mountain and said…”oh my, a pecker rock!!!” he laughed and said he calls it ‘Penis Park” On the trip down we stopped and took a few more pictures.
I think there is a party going on in the next picture.
I’m thinking that everyone that sees this has the same imagination as I did.
As I leave you for today with this nice image in your brain I want to thank you all again for letting me share with you this fun I am having.
Until Tomorrow.
Marie
