We awoke to a very different type of sky this morning I guess for us back east the terms partly cloudy are the usual but out here in big sky country it’s a funny.
We decided to play tourist anyway. We headed into Lake Havasu City. Lake Havasu is formed behind the Parker Dam on the Colorado River.
This is a new city, founded in 1964by a man named Robert McCulloch and incorporated in 1978. It is now a sprawling metropolis with one claim to fame.
The world famous London Bridge was bought by McCulloch brought back to Havasu from London in 1968. After having it rebuilt here in Havasu he had a mile long channel dug under it so the water from Lake Havasu would flow under it. A man with a vision and money to pull it off.
This is a small replica of London, but due to the economy I think it is fading but hopefully someday it will revive itself.
We played tourist under the London Bridge.
A nice couple strolling under the bridge.
It really is a very beautiful bridge.
We did some shopping.
We drove over the bridge then stopped for lunch in Lake Havasu before heading back to Buckskin Mountain.
I walked bare feet in the grass, first time I have had real grass I think in like 6 weeks or more, my feet loved it. I walked along the river and ventured into the water it wasn’t freezing but it wasn’t warm like Death Valley either.Sorry this picture is so dark..
I also took a hike up this mountain in the campground but have no proof of that because the batteries in my camera were dead. That was the only reason I climbed up there was for pictures. All that strenuous exercise and not a thing to show for it, damn my luck.
Anyway we had another relaxing afternoon in glorious Buckskin and tomorrow we leave for Yuma to meet up with friends again and to spend Thanksgiving with them.
We will still be without wifi and possibly tv. Some of these places are so far behind the times and they don’t seem to care. But it is nice to just relax without the outside world interrupting.
Its time for my thing here..
Until tomorrow..
Marie
