Day 31; We went on tour........

It started out as a regular day here in Pahrump, did my laundry, read my book had some lunch, then was told we were going for a tour.  And that we did.

We went about 5 miles outside of town to the Clark County and Nye County line,  Prostitution is not legal in Clark County but it is in Nye so right on the border are two Brothels.  Clark County is where Las Vegas is located.
My brother and I went into Sheri’s Ranch.  We were met at the door by I would guess the Madam and we ask for a tour and were shown around some of the place.
It is not cheap whore house for sure. I would guess a gentleman would spend some money partaking some of the amenities they have to offer.
There was a huge menu board of what they offered from a straight lay to dominatrix. We were allowed to see some of the hot tub rooms and a private dining room where our guide made the comment that in this room, "Oral sex is the dessert".
This was a very well maintained place and beautifully landscaped. It had a spa, motel, bar and other private outbuildings like the safari room, we weren’t allowed in any of the rooms.
We had a drink at the bar, the bartender was a very nice lady and I will say fully clothed not like the girls sitting at the bar waiting for customers to come in.

No cameras or cell phones were allowed in the place so this is about the only picture I could get was when we were leaving.

A few hundred feet up the road there was another brothel.

We didn’t stop in this one.  One Brothel was plenty to get the gist of what they do in there.  I’m glad I had the gumption to do this with my brother, its one more thing off my bucket list and I’m sure off of his. (Besides I always thought I would have run one in another life time).
After returning back from this mission accomplished I wandered over to the casino to lose my $14.00 I was up yesterday.  Trust me I played for a while but did walk away with less then I went in with today but I now have that out of my system for a while.  At least until we come out of Death Valley. Have to love Nevada and its casinos.
I will say here though that is all that Nevada has to offer. This state is a very desolate ugly place. In every place I have traveled so far on this trip cross country I have found some beauty in the surrounding area but not here in Nevada.  Even the deserts are not pretty.   I’m glad we have Mount Charleston out our window.
After a wonderful dinner we all relaxed reading, talking and having a glass.

Ms Shirley and the lovable Gracie. (That was a joke.)  Shirley just informed me she really is lovable.....

Mount Charleston turned a bright yellow almost gold colored this evening.

That’s all I have to write about tonight.
Tomorrow is getting ready to go into Death Valley day both mentally and physically.  I’m excited about this venture in this already amazing trip I have been having but for now I’m going to enjoy my glass and my hosts.
Thank you all for reading and enjoying my blog  as much as I am enjoying being able to share this time with you.
Until tomorrow,
Marie

Day 31

For our first full day in Pahrump we relaxed.  We took a trip to Walmart and a few other stores getting a few essentials for our 14 days in Death Valley.
I will say I am officially ready to go into Death Valley now. Yesterday I finished my bloomers and I made my hat pins.  The only thing left for me to do is to make my draw string purse to match my hat.  This is not mandatory it’s just something I want to make to accent my outfit.
I don’t have any real pictures to give you today either just one lousy one of the casino where we are at.  Saddles West.

Yes I have done a little gambling here yesterday and can honestly say I came out $14.00 richer then I went in.  Maybe I will have to go spend that big $14.00 today.
We had a nice sunset last night, another lousy picture though of Mount Charleston with pink snow.

That was the extent of my day yesterday but I think today we may just play tourist alittle bit once my laundry is done.
I will try to blog tonight or tomorrow again before we head into Death Valley because I’m not sure when I will be able to after Sunday until Nov 14 when we come out of there.

Until then, thank you all for reading my blogs.

I’m thinking of home more and more but not homesick, just knowing this is such great weather that I could get used to it.

I’m off for my next adventure..

Day 30: flying in....

We had a fretful night as the winds howled about 40MPH keeping us awake; the power went out in Laughlin and our trailer. But since it was already 1 am we were all hunkered in bed and didn’t get a chance to practice with our “pumpkin stealing lights”.
But when it was all said and done we woke up to a beautiful sky over the casinos.

Now today has significance for two reasons.  The first we are leaving  the  gracious towns of Laughlin, Nevada and  Bullhead City, Arizona and heading north toward our final destination before we head down into Death Valley.

We have a later start than usual, 9:00 am because we only have a 3 hour trek to get to Pahrump.

We head north this time but as you can see the view never changes.  Straight as straight can be.  But just look at the sky, BIG X’s in the sky means tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day.  When I made this profound statement to my brother the tour guide/former weatherman he just chuckled like I was making it all up.  Wait until tomorrow and the weather is perfectly gorgeous and I will remind him of my BIG X fact.
We climbed and climbed mountain after mountain but only one warranted a picture.

                                          It looks like a drawing.
After a couple hours driving we had Las Vegas in our sites.

Now for the second reason today has significance.   Today is Oct 27th.  For any of you remembering my very first blogs.. Today is the day that I………………….

Fly into Las Vegas.  And yes I was going to fly in on Southwest at approximately this time.
Imagine that…  I have been here for 30 days already having the time and adventure of my life and today is the day it was all supposed to begin.
I cannot thank my brother Mike and his wonderful wife Shirley for giving me this experience.
Thank you for Dodge City, Kansas, Amarillo, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Route 66, the Grand Canyon, Williams, Seligman, Laughlin and now Pahrump. Thank you for everything before and everything in between every one of these wonderful places.

I would have missed all of this and started my journey here today in Pahrump Nevada.  Never realizing what I would have missed.  Now I do and am so glad I didn’t miss any of it.
As we left Las Vegas having seen just what you saw in my pictures… we headed up the mountains again.

The colors of the mountains are now tinged with red.  They are very pretty.
But not long before the road becomes very long and very straight again.

About at the end of this road, we are nearing our destination.

We find out campsite at SaddlesWest, Rv park and Casino,  ( remember we are in Nevada casinos are everywhere.)  It is like a huge parking lot with the internet only in the laundry room.  So here I sit typing this.  But at least I can publish them for all you faithful readers.  I really do worry about you forgetting me.

The only view here really is other RV’s parked all around us, with the exception of this snowcapped mountain, I think it is called Mount Charleston.   The elevation of this mountain peak is 11,915 feet.
I will keep you updated with all my advents here in Pahrump and the when we take our trip into Death Valley I will be 2 weeks of no communication.   I will try to publish a couple times during that stint.
Until then… time for my glass.

Day 29,

We started our day with bright blue skies and a nice leisurely walk on the riverfront walkway.

The views were beautiful. Crystal clear water, crystal blue sky.

You can see the only cloud hiding over the mountain range in the far distance.

At the end of the river walk was a channel surrounding the Colorado Belle Casino it was loaded with the gigantic koi begging for food I would guess?  We exited our walk through the Belle.  It is an absolutely gorgeous casino.

After the walk we took a trip up the mountains

Lake Mead is the lake formed by the Hoover Damn but the national recreation area encompasses 1.5 acres.
We saw this beautiful blue lake as we started to climb up the mountains.

Just look at the startling back drop of rock faced mountains and bright blue waters.  This is the lake behind the Davis Dam that we enjoyed yesterday via the boat ride.

We learned the name of this lake is Lake Mohave.
The David Dam

This is taken near the top of the dam which we were not allowed closer to.
After many more pictures of this scenery as we headed back down the mountain to Laughlin, Nevada.

Our view as we head home.
Tomorrow we leave this Casino town of  Laughlin, Nevada  and head on to Pahrumpt , Nevada where we finishing  getting ready for the trip into Death Valley.  When in Death Valley I won’t have cell phone or internet so I won’t be able to blog every day but I promise you will get every day’s excitement and I promise, photos of me in my mail order brides dress as soon as I can send them.
Thank you all for reading my blog and patiently waiting for them as they have been slow lately.
Hoot, Toot and Whistle.
