Day 7

My day started a little earlier then usual as we didn’t leave the campground in Columbia Missouri until 8:30am. We headed west on I 70 and stopped in Boonville at Russell Stovers to get our fill of chocolate. I was very good and only bought a little.
We headed west again for another smooth ride west on 70. About an hour into the rid we saw a car carrier truck that had burned to a crisp. Traffic on I 70 east bound was backed up for about 4 miles. We were happy we were heading west. Not 5 miles down the road was another 18 wheeler on its side after taking the on ramp a little faster than he should have been. We were glad again the problems were other folks not ours as we have already had our share of un fun events.
But I guess Monday itis wasn’t over because not far from the last truck folly was another 18 wheeler that seemed to have somehow backed out of his parking space at a rest area and was down an embankment. I wonder how many truck tow trucks are in this small of an area.
But mondayitis was not only for 18 wheelers not far down I 70 was a car in the median stripped quite smashed up. My brother made the comment “there’s ‘a 4 wheeler’ in the median.”
My being dumb said to my brother it looked like a car to me. He didn’t respond. But soon on the CB radio a trucker made the same the same comment about a ‘4 wheeler’.
Me being from the hills of Massachusetts a 4 wheeler is an ATV. I am learning many things on this trip, I can proudly say I am getting a truckers education. Not sure if that is a good thing or not but it’s all good really.
One other thing I l figured out, remember how Indiana had all their roads named with numbers? Well Missouri has all their roads named with letters. B C G N etc. Imagination abounds out west.
We left Missouri and entered into Kansas and are camped here in Emporia Kansas. Tomorrow off to Dodge City for a couple of days.
I bought myself a camera today so maybe I can start adding pictures to my daily blog for you all.
But now my friends it’s time for my daily glass of vino and some brotherly chat. Thank you all for reading my blog I am enjoying writing it.
