My trip west,

Prologue

This July I was  invited by my brother Mike and his wonderful wife Shirley to join them in Death Valley for the first to weeks in Nov. for 'Death Valley 49ers encampment'.  Something they have attended for the past 10 years.
Each year Shirley has made her 1849ers dress for the parade winning a blue ribbon every year.
I have every year been envious. So when I was invited my heart all but stopped and my brain started whirling as to what kind of a dress /costume I would wear.  And what my story line would tell.
I decided to be a mail order bride and Shirley is going to be my chaperon traveling west with me.  We will enter the  pageant as a couple.
It was decided that I would fly into Les Vegas on Oct 27 and they would meet and after a couple days in Pahrump we would go into Death Valley for the Encampment and 14 days of dry camping.
This gave me a only about 6 weeks to get my dress and under garments together. most of which is hand sew as they were going to take them with them when they left Massachusetts on Sept 28.
I sewed my fingers to the bone trying to get it all done. and on Monday Sept 27th I brought what I needed to to be packed in the RV so it could travel cross country.
While helping Shirley pack my few things she asked me if wanted to come along with then in the AM.  Yes i did for what did i have to stay home for and hang around  anticipating  my trip when I could begin it  immediately.
I hurried home through 10 weeks worth of clothes and what I needed in a broken down suitcase and a few  shopping bags, typed up an email with a honey do list for my  children to do to close my yard up for winter since I wont be home until Dec 4th  and  away I went.
From  here on in my blogs will be from the road when I have wi fi and can publish them.
