We left Amarillo without too much ado and were out on the highway just past ‘O dark 30”. The truck clocks were set for Mountain Standard Time before we left making it 6:41AM.
The roads were heavy traveled while we headed out of the city limits. Once we passed them it was easy sailing. The scenery remained the same flat, flat and more flat barren land. After the first couple hours then I started to notice some changes in the landscape. We were seen greener foliage, small rises in the road and in the distance some bluffs I called them. My tour guide told me they were called Mesa’s.
We have cloud coverage today |

Also the view on the roads changed some today to. Not as many cattle trucks or grain trucks but we had the fun of seeing most of the NASCAR car haulers heading back east to Charlotte for this week ends race. We saw most of the big names like Jimmy Johnson, Jeff Gordon Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Kasey Kayne. I think I may be easier to say we didn’t see but may have missed Dale Earnhardt and Mark Martin. We saw the ESPN trucks, the SPEED channel Trucks. The NASCAR Sprint series trucks. You name it we saw them. Of course I didn’t get a picture of any of them because my aim with my camera was off at that angle and that speed.
We soon entered into New Mexico and the scenery had a different look to it.
Off in the distance we could see the mountains.
The mountains start to get bigger
We reached our destination just about 1 pm MT and decided to just enjoy this beautiful campground we are at.
Tomorrow there is a couple things planned but I’m not sure just what it is yet but I will update you tomorrow evening.
Until then, enjoy and envision what I am seeing. I will tell you that the mountains are huge and beautiful all around here.
